in machining or cutting process of titanium, why can't we get a smooth surface as stainless steel?
what type of material in tool such as front turning or drill can we use to cut titanium so we can get a smooth surface?
Titanium is a very difficult material to machine. When drilling use 135 degree split points, preferably cobalt drills and keep your RPM low to keep the heat down. Do not dwell in the work piece, once you start a cut keep a positive feed all the way through or it will work harden and really give you fits. The same goes for milling, use a helical mill with a positive cutting angle and lots of flutes. Good luck
